Metown Selected for IITP XR Core Technology R&D Program, Securing KRW 3.3 Billion for Neural Rendering Digital Human Development

Hyper-realistic neural rendering AI company Metown (CEO Dohae Lee) announced that it has been selected for the ‘Core XR Content Technology Development Program’ organized by the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP) under the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The project aims to develop next-generation immersive content technologies with global competitiveness. Metown will focus on developing neural rendering–based digital human and apparel asset technologies applicable to real production environments. The research will run for approximately three years through December 2028, with a total R&D budget of approximately KRW 3.3 billion.
Through this project, Metown plans to develop photorealistic digital humans and clothing assets using its Gaussian Splatting–based neural rendering technology and establish production pipelines applicable to VFX, digital content, XR, and metaverse industries.
The company aims to overcome limitations of existing neural rendering technologies—particularly the difficulty of editing and production use—by developing industry-ready digital human asset technologies suitable for real-world content workflows.
Metown plans to commercialize the outcomes through its EVOVA neural rendering engine, expanding into digital human creation, apparel simulation, and automated content production, while targeting the global VFX and digital content markets.
CEO Dohae Lee commented, “This IITP selection confirms that Metown’s neural rendering technology is being recognized as a core industrial content technology beyond simple 3D generation. We aim to grow into a global technology company connecting digital humans and content production markets through EVOVA.”
Metown also noted that its core technologies have been developed with support from major Korean government initiatives, including the Metaverse Lab Support Project funded by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
